2022.01.21 20:37 hydratesweetie How do therapists feel about their clients? Do they think of clients out of sessions?
Hello, this is my first post here. I am feeling insecure after my therapy session and I would like some insight on how therapists view their clients. Do they care about us? Do they think of clients outside of sessions? What are progress notes? I need some reassurance that I matter (sometimes I feel like an inconvenience) and it is very tempting to quit therapy and run.
In my therapy session today I felt so overwhelmed that I literally couldn’t open up; my mind went blank and I was so scared of getting judged. My T kept asking me questions and I kept saying, “I don’t know” then we sat awkwardly in silence. Then my T asked if it was ok to end session early since I wasn’t talking - I said yes, but I’m worried that she is mad and disappointed at me. I struggle with abandonment and people-pleasing which makes it incredibly hard to open up. Any feedback would be helpful, thank you~

2022.01.21 20:37 gataxic I managed to beat an unhealthy habit and learned to forgive myself for self abuse
Hey, posting this on a throw away account cause I can probably never share this with anyone personally, but I still feel like I want to share this with someone cause it feels like a big step for me.
For years I’ve been struggling with self esteem and eventually I ended up with a porn addiction that was destroying my self esteem even more.
It was destroying my personality, I slipped down into weird fetishes like forced feminization. And I hated myself for it but kept going back to it every time.
But a month ago I found the inspiration to stop with those things, I threw away the stuff associated to the fetish and stopped with watching porn.
I am still going strong now a month later, and I feel open enough to admit to myself that I was abusing myself. And I am also ready to forgive myself for that. I am loving myself and feel proud of who I am again.
But I don’t think I am ready to fully leave the shame behind yet so I still can’t and probably never will be able to talk about this unanimously.

2022.01.21 20:37 Apprehensive-Ice1294 Don't take your dog to this daycare.
This is for owners of dogs who are interested in taking their dog to daycare, those in the pet field of employment, and those who love animals. Do not take your dog to Lazy Dog Crazy Dog in Ballard.
I’m going to start with my perspective, as an employee. The internal side of things and how I was treated as an employee may not be of much interest to you with the caveat that they are at least treating the dogs as they promise. This is not true, and I will also explain how they are mistreating the dogs under their care at worst and doing them a disservice at best.
Starting out, I thought I was part of a kennel free environment that cared about dog safety and well-being. They prefer people with no experience, so they can "teach you right". Even if you have experience, they will treat you as if you have none so they can reteach you the "correct" way.
The owner has stated that women will never break the glass ceiling of handling the way a man can and that dogs will never respect women the same way they do men. He has also stated that they/them pronouns are "bs" and not worth his time. He banned us from correcting each other on pronouns.
If you are 1 minute late, you must text one of the owners and possibly get written up. I have been given a written warning for being 2 minutes late. Multiple coworkers have been written up for their car not starting, for being physically ill that day, or because their dog was ill and it made them late to work.
They are always severely understaffed and give virtually no training. The owner will tell you everything you need to know for handling on day 1 and then get annoyed when you have follow up questions. He's said that he hates questions verbatim.
The owner will make fun of the homeless in front of you. He calls them tent folk. He also will complain about your coworkers to you. The unprofessionalism is insane.
If you get a bonus, the owner wants you to tell no one. "Sharing that you got a bonus hurts morale". For admin, there's no break unless you ask for one. No one is there to tell you to take a lunch when things get crazy and you lose track of time. For handlers, you get a break but you must take it inside so you can watch the dogs while you sit down in case of emergency. Basically, not a real break.
There is no job security, no raises, and no real opportunity for advancement. They promote people to assistant manager and supervisor with little to no pay raise when the team is so small that they don't even need a hierarchy like that.
There are many better paying, less confusing places to work. The owner has mentioned that “McDonald’s will pay you more, but this is about our love for dogs.”
There are also questionable handling decisions galore. (This is the part that pet owners will care about most).
The admin will say that dogs are separated by play style, energy level, and size. However, there are times that the owner will open up both sides of the play areas to let dogs through interchangeably. There are small dogs, big dogs, high energy dogs, low energy senior dogs all in the same play area. The owner does not want to give dogs breaks, and has refused to on occasion even while a pet parent has explicitly requested regular breaks.
Recently, there was an overnight handling mistake that resulted in 13 punctures and a trip to the ER vet. There typically was 1 person handling overnight, and he stepped out for a smoke break - Leaving 15-20 dogs alone with no supervision. One dog ended up with the 13 punctures, and she still has anxiety and fear issues months later.
In late 2020, a dog being evaluated for daycare bit a couple handlers, resulting in them going to the ER and 2 hardly trained staff members were left alone to look after 40+ dogs until more help arrived. While parents were dropping off, asking questions about the ambulance, staff was instructed to tell them nothing was wrong and to accept their business as usual. They were also instructed to never speak of the incident, since it could cause doubt in parents’ trust.
There is no clear communication. They will send you photos of your dog playing, but if your dog doesn’t want to play, they will push them up to run around and catch “play pictures” rather than just photograph your dog as is. They stress out the dogs just trying to get photos. They don’t share every time a dog gets into a scuffle, gets loose stool, etc. They will alter the truth about how a scuffle came to be, or how a bite happened, etc.
During boarding stays, which can sometimes be up to 20 nights, your dog will not see sunlight. They stay indoors 24/7. I don’t believe this is healthy for dogs. The owner still practices a “pack mentality” even though the pack model of behavior has been disproven. He picks out the “alpha” and “beta” of the pack, and is more or less aggressive with them as he sees fit.
One thing that is boasted about there is “bark control.” The idea that if dogs play quietly, they will play safely. This makes some sense, but if dogs are in safe environments to begin with and not a flat concrete slab with attentive and trained employees, it would probably turn out well too.
Daycares that I recommend are Great Dog, DDL (Ballard, SLU), MountainViewK9s (for small pack mountain hikes), genspetcare (for home visits). DDL has a great senior center, and offers private daycare and walks outside during the day. They also have the Dog Yard, where you can hang out with your dog.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to DM or comment.

2022.01.21 20:37 AggravatingEmu7660 Need help finding a fiber supplement! Please!
I’m struggling with constipation. It’s especially difficult because there’s so many days when I can just barely eat. I do enjoy smoothies and stuff like that, oats, leafy greens, basically anything that helps. But sometimes it’s not enough.
Metamucil powder and any gummies have citric acid so that’s a no. And sometimes they have a bit too much sugar.
The main problem I have is with anything sugar free, when they use sugar alcohols instead of sugar. Those give me the wooorrrrssssttt cramps/gas/bloating.
The psyllium husk I’ve been having issues with. I’ve been taking it for a week now and I’m even more constipated than before and I’m having bad stomach pains.
The pills/caplets are a little tough because sometimes I have difficulty swallowing, especially if they’re big. (That’s what she said)
So can anyone recommend something good?
